Alderbank helps Recycling Lives bring Christmas to more people

23.12.14 - Christmas approaches and, across the country, people are looking forward to unwrapping gifts and enjoying turkey roasts. It is easy to forget that, for many people, this isn't such a season of joy. All they want for Christmas is a hot meal and a warm bed. This year, Alderbank Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic are helping local charity,Recycling Lives, provide exactly that...

The Recycling Lives charity acts as a safety net for vulnerable and marginalised people. They offer accommodation, education, training and work experience to homeless and long-term unemployed individuals, with the aim of helping them back into full-time work and finding them a place to call their own.

Their charity work is supported by the successful commercial activities ofRecycling Lives Ltd, a Queen's Award-winning recycler and waste management solutions provider.

Alderbank's owners Lee and Victoria Barker, have treated a number of Recycling Lives staff over the past few years. Through them they heard about the work of the charityand were keen to help out.

Another local business - Veolia - has held a successful pre-Christmas food drive collections for Recycling Lives over the past few years and, inspired by another patient, from Veolia, they decided to do a food drive of their own.

Vicky and Lee placed a note on the Alderbank Clinic reception desk, asking customers to donate any spare food they had for the charity and were delighted to recently present Recycling Lives with a bountiful haul - which will help keep their Residents well-fed over the festive season.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
