Acupuncture Awareness Week

09.03.14 - With millions of acupuncture treatments being carried out each year, acupuncture is one of the most widespread complementary therapies practised in the UK today.

Yet many people only discover acupuncture as a last resort, despite its widely recognised health benefits.

This week sees us celebrating Acupuncture Awareness Week at Alderbank.

The growing popularity of acupuncture has gained a boost in recent years from NICE, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, which has endorsed acupuncture treatment for non-specific back pain, and as a prophylaxis for migraine and tension type headaches.

If you regularly follow this blog, you’ll have noted that Alderbank's resident Acupuncturist, Charlotte Green, was recently awarded a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, after five-years of post-graduate study.

She is now one of only a small number of acupuncturists within the UK to be trained to this standard.

As part of her training, Charlotte completed research within the NHS where she tracked the progress of a patient group over a three year period following a course of acupuncture at their G.P surgery. She found that acupuncture in combination with lifestyle advice brought sustained benefits for the majority of the patient group.

If you would like to find out more about the acupuncture treatments available from Charlotte at Alderbank, please call us on 01772 653501 or visit Charlotte's website - www.charlottegreenacupuncture.com.
