Olympic Glory for Alderbank

Alderbank Physiotherapy Clinic in Grimsargh, Preston is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with an Olympic event. Lee Barker who is, one of the principal physiotherapists alongside his wife Victoria, has been selected to be part of the Olympic Physiotherapy Team for London 2012.

He is to be based at the Athletes Village Medical Centre and will be responsible for providing physiotherapy treatment and support to athletes from all over the world and from any sports. This opportunity came after many months of applications and interviews competing with over 7000 applying physiotherapists. It is rather poignant that the London 2012 Olympics should fall in the 10th Anniversary year of the clinic, as the clinic opened immediately after Lee had completed his physiotherapy appointment at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Lee says “It is a great honor to have been selected from thousands of applicants to be included in a once in a life time event of such magnitude on home turf”. Over the ten years the clinic has grown from strength to strength thanks to the hard work and commitment to quality care to our customers. This wouldn’t have been possible without the constant support of his wife Victoria who has over 20 years physiotherapy experience and manages all the day to day practice management and accounts issues as well as looking after a heavy case load. Contracts over the years with major health care intermediaries such as Physio med have led to the need to take on other practitioners to cope with the increased demand for appointments. This has been possible over the years from the fortunate but very selective introduction of physiotherapists such as Paul Sanderson, Simon Eason and Caroline Hindle, who have all proved to be excellent Physiotherapists with the highest level of quality and commitment to care, which Alderbank Physiotherapy prides itself on.

Lee says “The Olympics in London 2012 will be the icing on the cake of what is a very exciting and rewarding career which seems to keep getting better and better with all the challenges facing the Healthcare professions in recent years!! The physiotherapy and Sports Injuries services are becoming more competitive and will continue to do so. The provision of top quality, evidence based care remains the utmost of any practice despite every day financial pressures of the current economic climate.

Lee will be one of the physiotherapists providing treatment to athletes from any sport and potentially any country, at the Athletes Village Medical Centre. This is a polyclinic based in the centre of the Athletes Village which provides all the medical needs of the athletes from 7 am to 11 pm throughout the six weeks of the Olympics and Paralympics.
